Central District

Anyone can suggest dinner and drinks. These five Seattle dates are the antidote: hands-on, a little adventurous, and actually fun to do together, from blowing your own glass in Belltown to social dancing in a restored 1908 ballroom on Capitol Hill. Every spot below is verified by a real person, so there are no dead listings or places that quietly closed. Pick one and show your date you put in more thought than a reservation.

Belltown
Gather molten glass and shape your own piece at the bench under a master glassblower, a block from the Monorail in Belltown. Hot-shop sessions run daily 10am-6pm, so book a slot.

Portage Bay
Rent a bright kayak or paddleboard on Portage Bay and paddle past the houseboats toward the Arboretum together, then head back for fish tacos on the deck. Open daily 10am-8pm in season (closed Wednesdays).

Capitol Hill
Take a beginner drop-in lesson on the restored 1908 hardwood floor, then social dance together with no partner or experience needed. On Thursday Bachata Night the 9pm lesson rolls straight into social dancing until 1am.

Downtown
Cook a full meal hands-on at Tom Douglas's downtown cooking school, then sit down and eat what the two of you made. Classes run throughout the week, so check the site for times.
